Colgate-Palmolive

Global Supply Chain Intern

May - August 2023 • Piscataway, NJ

What I liked

I loved this internship! I got to talk to so many people from different departments for project and career advice. The Global Technology Center is beautiful, and the internship program was so much fun.

What I wish was different

My mentor and manager were both managers of different departments, so their schedules were super busy. It would have been nice to have someone entry-level as my mentor.

Advice

Do not wait around for people to tell you what to do and who to talk to! Use your free time to learn about new topics.

Engineering intern

June - August 2020 • Piscataway, NJ

What I liked

I loved that the whole internship was using creativity to put my electronics and programming knowledge to use.

What I wish was different

I wish it had been in person so I had been able to build the hardware and not just design it

Advice

Ask for feedback, don’t think that you can do everything on your own. It doesn’t make you smarter to work extra and have to correct mistakes just because you didn’t want to ask if the direction you were going towards was correct

Tableau Developer Intern

June 2018 • Piscataway, NJ

What I liked

The company culture of Colgate is all around warm and friendly. It is an excellent place to get your foot in the door or learn new skills if you're unsure of what you want to do. My managers were welcoming and really cared if I was getting an adequate amount of experience. With such a supportive work environment, I decided to stay with them for the year.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more room for growth into a full-time position. Colgate does not offer employment contingent on graduation. You must have your degree already to be considered for a full-time role. I wish this was not the case so I could know in advance that I will be hired.

Advice

Take advantage of the networking opportunities. Many employees at Colgate are seasoned in the consumer goods and R&D field. They have great insight into future career goals and the industry in general. Don't be afraid to ask questions or send an email to others in an effort to better your prospects!
