Community Service Worker 2 - Bilingual
About the Position
The Community Service Worker 2 will support the delivery of services to eligible residents of Lane County. This program falls within the purview of Lane County’s Housing Stabilization and Utility Assistance Programs, within the Human Services Division. This position will work within multiple funding streams and support multiple programs with their language needs.
Community Service Workers in this role will engage with clients to collect eligibility documents, complete necessary forms, develop a housing stabilization plan, liaise with the applicant's landlord, and screen for additional needs and supports. The goal of these programs is to increase at-risk populations stability by preventing the loss of housing through a combination of case management and financial assistance delivered by the Community Service Worker. This Spanish/English bilingual position will work directly with applicants, will work in multiple databases and spreadsheets, and will support several programs with translation and interpretation resources. This is a very dynamic position that requires the ability to balance multiple priorities, show a great attention to detail, and work with a broad cross-section of the community. We are looking for someone who can apply their skills in trauma informed care and diversity, equity and inclusion to their interactions with applicants, community partners and team members.

About the Division
The Human Services Division is dedicated to supporting the diverse communities of Lane County, including veterans, seniors, adults, children, youth, and families, during times of challenge and change in their lives. Our mission is to tackle the underlying causes of poverty, hunger, and homelessness through a comprehensive range of services encompassing prevention, intervention, stabilization, and economic opportunity services.
Through collaborative efforts with compassionate local communities, we strive to empower Lane County residents by facilitating access to essential tools and resources they need to break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter, more stable future for themselves. The division plays a vital role in administering funding, coordinating services, and offering assistance across six key program areas. These programs are a blend of contracted services with public and nonprofit organizations, direct support from our dedicated county staff, and active involvement in community initiatives.
Our division’s program areas include:
- Administration and Operations: overseeing and managing operations, ensuring smooth functioning and effective coordination.
- Housing Stabilization and Utility Assistance: provide financial support and resource coordination to help individuals and families maintain stable housing and access essential utilities, preventing homelessness and service disruptions.
- Housing, Homelessness and Community Services: addressing homelessness, housing insecurity and community improvements to enhance living conditions and opportunities for our most vulnerable citizens.
- Veterans Services: tailoring specialized support and resources to assist our Lane County veterans and their families.
- Workforce Services: providing employment and training programs for both job seekers and businesses throughout Lane County.

Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm; (hybrid an option after initial training)

QUALIFICATIONS
Training:
- Equivalent to the completion of two years of college course work.
Experience:
- Two years of responsible community service experience.
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Preferred Qualifications and Knowledge:
- Interpreting technical guidelines and communicating them simply.
- Working with the public and delivering a service or program.
- Conveying the purposes and services of a program to the user population.
- Managing unusual situations and identify those situations when a supervisor is needed.
- Navigating computer databases and composing standard notes.
- Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Identifying community resources and using them to better client outcomes.
- Examining systems, procedures, and personal beliefs through an Equity lens.
Testing Requirements
- Successful hire will be contingent upon taking a bilingual test to demonstrate proficiency in both English & Spanish
Special Requirements:
- This position is subject to a full criminal offender information record check.
