With a population of nearly 290,000 and growing, Lincoln is one of the Midwest's most affordable, accessible, and agreeable cities. It is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Lincoln offers great schools, short commute times, recreation for all members of the family, and a cost of living consistently below the national average.
This capital city of Nebraska offers many amenities of larger cities, yet with plenty of opportunities to get back to nature with ample outdoor activities like hiking, biking, camping, hunting, and fishing. If you're missing the big city life, Lincoln is only an hour from Omaha, a three-hour drive to Kansas City, and within a day's drive to Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, and St. Louis.
Additionally, Lincoln is a "university town" - home of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) and the "Husker" sports program. UNL offers more than 52 specialized degree choices and has an enrollment of approximately 25,000 students. Fans turn the town to a "sea of red" on Husker football game days and the women's volleyball team holds a nation-leading streak of 10 straight NCAA Regional Final appearances (and has won five national championships in 1995, 2000, 2006, 2015, and 2017).
