Fall '21 Internship | Programs

Civic Nation is currently seeking a Programs Intern for its United State of Women (USOW) initiative. The intern, reporting to the Assistant Director of Programs, will provide the programs team on a variety of projects, including providing direct support to the USOW Ambassador program, and assisting in planning digital activations and partner work. This is an exciting position for someone who is passionate about women’s empowerment, enjoys keeping up with the news, is a detail-oriented self-starter, and looking for an opportunity to develop programmatic and organizing skills.

ABOUT THE UNITED STATE OF WOMEN
The United State of Women is a national organization dedicated to convening, connecting, and amplifying voices in the fight for full gender equity. We are a community for all women, gender nonconforming people, and allies who believe in full gender equity and want to work collectively to achieve it. We strive to build and strengthen coalitions at all levels and connect our audiences to new partners and actions in order to enact meaningful change and create a more intersectional, united state of women.
Born out of the Obama Administration’s White House Council on Women and Girls, USOW holds a unique position within the gender equity movement. We sit at the uncommon intersection of policy, community engagement, culture change, and leadership development. Since 2016, we’ve served as a go-to platform for partners, stakeholders, and our community to address issues facing women and other marginalized genders.

ABOUT CIVIC NATION
Civic Nation is a home for changemakers who inspire, educate, and activate people around the issues that will define this generation. We empower people to take on the biggest challenges of our time — strengthening democracy; foster civic engagement, social justice and voter participation; addressing public health crises; fighting for gender equity; and more.
Civic Nation drives real, meaningful change by shifting culture, systems, and policy. We organize at every level and serve as a connector — of people and programs, of grassroots activists and leaders of industries and organizations, of ideas and the resources to make them reality. Our goal is to empower individuals, companies, institutions, and organizations to create a more inclusive, equitable America.

YOUR EXPERIENCE
  • Experience with campus leadership, grassroots organizing, or opportunities similar to volunteer management.
  • Demonstrated interest in women’s empowerment preferred

YOUR COMPETENCIES
  • Understanding and appreciation of intersectional feminism
