Location: The State Water Resources Control Board’s Los Angeles Region has an opening for a Scientific Aid in the Underground Storage Tank Section. The position location is 320 W. 4th Street, Suite 200, Los Angeles, CA 90013. 
 
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Equivalent to completion of two years of college with a minimum of 10 semester hours in relevant scientific course work, i.e., pest management, environmental studies, entomology, or agricultural sciences.

Duties: Assist Regional Board staff with the review of analytical soil and groundwater data, work plans, remedial action plans, and corrective action plans as they pertain to the characterization and cleanup of releases from underground storage tank systems. Assist with the managing of various analytical soil and groundwater databases. Assist in the conducting of compliance inspections and in the development of low risk case closure recommendations.

Consistent with the Regional Boards File Review Policy and in cooperation with Administrative staff, assist in coordinating file reviews and public record requests with engineering consulting firms, legal professionals, and the general public by retrieving files from on-site storage areas and an off-site warehouse. Operate State motor vehicles for retrieving files and conducting other assigned State business. Assist Regional Board staff with case file management including data entry, analysis, retrieving, compiling, and information organizing.

Assist Regional Board staff with daily correspondence and mail-outs in order to conduct day to day business.
