IN TECH-SAVVY TERMS
The Department of Justice is looking for an experienced Cognos Developer with ETL experience to join our Child Support Technology Team. The team is responsible for enhancing and maintaining a new case management system we call Origin that's based on a Java EE and an IBM stack, including Cognos and ETL, to develop and maintain the reporting aspect of the business.
 
WHAT YOU WILL DO (in part)
  • Develop and maintain the reporting system, including creation of optimal interactive dashboards, ad-hoc query and analysis, interactive reporting, and enterprise reporting and analytics.
  • Create, enhance, and maintain Framework Manager models to support business requirements.
  • Collaborate with vendors regarding system problems and resolve or escalate as needed.
  • Work with developers and business analysts to diagnose and solve system-related problems.
  • Work with business, staff, partner agencies, and external partners to define requirements and assist with design.
  • Research, evaluate, and test new solutions, approaches, and technology directions.
  • Incorporate application security best practices into a report’s design and architecture.

REQUIRED
Five (5) years of information systems experience providing development, implementation and support of Data Warehouse and business intelligence systems. Education will be counted as experience if degree was in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or if a two (2) year accredited vocational training program was completed in information technology or related field.   
 
  • Associate’s Degree (or 2-year vocational training) = Two (2) Years
  • Bachelor's Degree = Four (4) Years

Work experience is based on a 40-hour work week. (Example: 20 hours a week for one year would equal six-months of work experience.)

SPECIAL SKILLS AND REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES
  • Experience with Framework Manager 11x Dimensional Modeling, Transformer cubes, Design and Development.
  • Experience with Cognos Analytics.
  • Experience with DB2 Server 10x.
  • Strong experience with ETL development using InfoSphere DataStage.
  • Experience implementing stored procedures and writing advanced queries.

DESIRED
  • 2-4 years' experience with Cognos Report & Dashboard Development experience.
  • 2-4 years' experience with Cognos BI Product Suite (Report Studio, Analysis Studio, Query Studio, Framework Manager, Transformer).
  • Experience participating in Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) activities, including requirements, design, development, unit/regression testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate conflicting needs and resolutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt rapid changes in business process.
