Responsibilities

P&C Actuarial & Underwriting Modeling Technology Unit is seeking a Software Developer with experience in application development to work in a dynamic and growing technical unit with emerging technologies. We are looking for innovative individuals who are self-starters and like being part of a team to develop and implement creative solutions. Working within the business area, agile product teams have autonomy to drive outcomes that provide meaningful business value directly to internal customers. We have a growing and evolving infrastructure of applications utilizing technologies that include, but are not limited to, Python and Spark combined with leveraging containers and AWS for implementation.

Qualifications

  • Experience building new and/or modifying existing software to meet business and technical requirements through web based software component designing, coding, testing, and quality review
  • Experience and deep knowledge with Python, including visualizing and analyzing data
  • Experience and knowledge working with large datasets using distributed programming languages, such as Spark.
  • Experience and knowledge with following Design Concepts: Micro services, REST, and gRPC.
  • Hands on experience with AWS
  • Proven willingness to learn and adapt in agile development environment

Incumbency Period:
There is a 24-month incumbency period (beginning on the employee's effective date for any lateral job movements and a 12-month incumbency period for any promotional opportunities, which must be met before the employee may post for other State Farm positions. The incumbency period does not affect the at-will relationship between State Farm and the employee and does not create an employment contract, nor contractual rights.
