Summer College Intern - Petroleum or Mechanical Engineer (Python Required)

Position Specific Description
In addition to completing an intern project, this individual might also be responsible for the following:
- Assist Drilling & Completions engineers in preparing procedures
- Develop Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking workflows and help maintain KPI database
- Utilize current data systems and data analytics workflows to maximize impact
- Assist as needed with regulatory or reporting functions
- Research and obtain offset well data utilizing advanced analytical tools (Spotfire, PowerBI, SQL)
- Travel to the field to interface with field teams and assist in implementations of procedures or initiatives
- This individual will support both Drilling and Completions engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of general Drilling and Completions operations
- Must be a team player, with the ability to build consensus and leverage proper resources to accomplish objectives
- Strong attention to detail required
- Experience with Spotfire, PowerBI, Python, SQL is a strong plus
This position would be located in the downtown Houston office.
Core Responsibilities
- Develops, implements and maintains drilling programs to ensure job quality, safety, and cost
- Implements strategies to improve current drilling plans to continually refine drilling operations to contain costs
- Provides accurate and timely well cost estimates
- Recommends and applies new technology in drilling and completions
- Maintains effective drilling plans by evaluating current programs and rig scheduling
- Monitors field activities at field locations during critical periods
- Makes recommendations to strategic plans involving drilling
- Maintains a safe work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures
- Ensures field activities are in compliance with company policies and government regulations
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Job Overview
To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists department with assigned projects
- Completes challenging projects and assignments
- Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
- Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school grad / GED
- Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
- Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
