Job Description
The Culinary Extern will provide technical and administrative assistance to the Executive Sous Chef and ensures effective operation of the kitchen and food production outlets.
Responsibilities
  • Intern will be hired on as a Seasonal Associate, as Omni Hotels & Resorts does not hire unpaid interns.
  • Intern has option to primarily focus either in Culinary or Pastry, and learn about the other.
  • Includes rotations through Fine Dining, Casual Dining, Banquet Events, Weddings, and Buffet.
  • Ability to gain experience in other departments for a more well-rounded internship including Ski Area Kitchen, Golf Kitchen, In Room Dining, Cafeteria, F&B Administration and Operations, and more.
  • Intern must be flexible in schedule and location, and open-minded as this is an experience-focused internship to gain exposure to the Culinary, Pastry, Hotels and Resorts, and Hospitality Industry.
  • Schedules are distributed weekly to associates and may include a variety of shifts including daytime and evening shifts.
  • Shift location and times will depend on the business demands.
Qualifications
  • Both Seasonal Semester internships and Year Round internships are available, start date and end date is very flexible
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time (at least 8 hours/shift). 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, to include: AM/PM, weekends, holidays. 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time (at least 10 hours/shift). 
  • Ability to ensure efficient, effective operation of the food production outlet(s). 
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate (verbal and written) in English with vendors, co-workers, and management. 
  • Self motivated, and ability to work with limited supervision.
