Income Tax Specialist

Duties
  • Analyze and reconcile Income Tax returns to verify the accuracy of returns filed and ensure compliance with SC laws. 
  • Examinations will focus on SC1040 additions, subtractions, and credits.  
  • Make decisions to determine appropriate action for outstanding discrepancies or issues.  
  • Examine accounts and process updates to Individual Income Tax returns.
  • Conduct routine office audits of Individual Income Tax returns to verify the accuracy of returns filed and ensure compliance with SC laws. 
  • These audits will focus on the Federal 1040. 
  • Prepare written correspondence to explain adjustments to the returns.  
  • Utilize various tax systems and internet sources for interpretation and/or adjustment.  
  • Communicate with taxpayer and/or representatives.  
  • Develop, update, and review section procedures, making suggestions/recommendations to improve existing practices or processes.  

Requires one of the following:
  1. Bachelor's degree and work experience in a business or tax related area
  2. Bachelor's degree with six (6) hours of accounting courses
  • Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning. 
  • College transcripts are required.
