Economic Justice (formally Workplace) Advocacy Fall Internship (undergraduate and graduate students)

The Economic Justice Advocacy Intern will work on challenging projects across the National Partnership's economic justice policy agenda, primarily paid family and medical leave and paid sick days, but also including fair pay, pregnancy discrimination and sexual harassment. At the National Partnership, interns are integrally involved in our day-to-day work, and undertake a wide range of activities. Activities will help interns develop skills needed for work in the policy and advocacy world, including legislative and policy research, analysis, writing for a variety of audiences, and coalition-building. Advocacy interns will track relevant issues, conduct research on topics of interest, support team meetings and events, and contribute to fact sheets and policy products through data collection, fact checking and proofreading. Interns will also have the opportunity to attend briefings, hearings and other events on Capitol Hill and in other venues around town. Qualifications include strong writing, communication, research, analysis and computer skills; the ability to manage multiple tasks and take initiative; the ability to work independently and a significant degree of organization.

Students receive academic credit from an accredited college or university for a fall internship with the National Partnership. Because this is an unpaid internship, students are encouraged to consult with your faculty advisor to determine if this opportunity is eligible for academic credit. Students who receive academic credit for an internship may or may not receive remuneration from a third-party for their participation in an internship program. At the National Partnership we have reviewed an acknowledged the DOL guidance for each position.
