Jacobs Space Exploration Group (JSEG) is comprised of 10 companies and is located at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL (ranked #11 in Best Places to Live by U.S. News). JSEG has been a primary contractor for NASA since 1989 and supports marquee NASA programs, including the Space Launch System, International Space Station, space optics fabrication, earth and space sciences and advanced propulsion system development.
Responsibilities:
As an entry level Thermal Analyst, your expertise will provide insight in the development, test, and certification of propulsion systems for NASA’s Space Launch System, as well as other new and existing programs at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). You will become part of a multi-discipline team with the charter to establish flight rationale for America’s next generation of manned launch vehicles and lunar/planetary probes.
Primary job duties include engaging with senior engineers to develop thermal/fluid insight on propulsion systems, as well as producing independent analytical assessments. In addition, you will develop and deliver reports and presentations, as well as collaborate with vendors and personnel from other NASA centers in the development of integrated flight hardware and associated ground test equipment.
Qualifications:
BS degree (MS preferred) from an ABET accredited institution in Mechanical, Chemical, or Aerospace Engineering is required. Candidates with a BS degree and equivalent experience in another engineering discipline will also be considered. Experience in the application of empirical closed-form thermal/fluids analysis techniques, and the assessment of thermal environments on components is desired. Knowledge of commercial Finite Element and CAD applications is desired, as well as familiarity with MatLab, Java, Python, or similar analysis tools. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
