Geospatial Coordinator

The City of Johnson City, Tennessee is accepting applications for a Geospatial Coordinator in the Public Works department. This is a senior technical and supervisory position, intended for coordinating geospatial activities of all employees within a single department. The Geospatial Coordinator offers experience, leadership and guidance to geospatial and non-technical staff, detailed familiarity with departmental geodata, and advanced analytical capabilities; does related work as required. Primary accountability and reporting are to the Public Works Director, Assistant Director, or their designee. All geospatial positions also include a shared/dual accountability to the Geospatial Manager within the Department of Information Technology for purposes of maintaining data integrity, database security, and a consistent and coordinated approach to geospatial information and products across the organization. Coordinates and is responsible for geospatial activities for the Public Works department. Supervises direct reports. GISP or equivalent certification required.
Requirements for Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Geography/GIS, engineering, computer science, or a related field is required. Master's degree or significant work experience beyond undergraduate training is strongly preferred. Certifications from Esri, GISCI, ASPRS, or other relevant professional organizations are highly preferred. Pre-employment physical, drug screening and background check required.
