Life Scientist/Physical Scientist
This is for a GS 11 or 12 scientist working in the Clean Air Strategies Section, Air and Radiation Division of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Region 5 office in Chicago, IL. At the entry level of this position, you will:
- Evaluate human health and environmental problems related to air pollution, with a focus on utilizing risk assessment, toxicology, and epidemiology to evaluate chemical risks.
- Develop and evaluate and/or implement strategies designed to increase public health and/or reduce pollution, through voluntary programs, education, coordination with federal regulatory and enforcement authorities, and other approaches as appropriate.
- Oversee and coordinate with state air programs, focusing on providing technical support to risk assessment efforts.
- Serve as a technical contact on grants related to identifying air pollution problems.
