Housing Resident Assistant

The Resident Assistant is a seasonal staff member of the Associate Housing Department.
**Start and End dates are flexible based on your schedule** The Resident Assistant works closely with, and reports directly to, the Housing Supervisor. The Resident Assistant keeps the Housing Supervisor informed of activities, problems, and needs of the residents. The Resident Assistant helps to assist in defining problems and then directing the associate to the appropriate source that may help them with a solution.

Responsibilities

  • Talk with, get to know, and be available to all residents in the building. Be a good listener. Be approachable.
  • Establish a “team” environment within the building through role modeling, with a focus on the company Cornerstones.
  • Participate in the promoting and advertising of Associate Life Events, and encourage residents to become active participants.
  • Build a community environment in the building based on respect, which allows all residents to feel safe, comfortable and included.
  • Perform all administrative tasks as defined by the Associate Housing Manager. Administrative tasks may include things such as: posting fliers in the building, completing weekly reports, and offering assistance as needed.
  • Understand, explain, support and enforce all Associate Housing policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a standard of personal conduct. The Resident Assistant is expected to set an example both in knowing and abiding by all applicable laws and Cedar Point policies.
  • Satisfactorily complete the RA Class and all RA staff development requirements as defined by the Associate Housing Department.

Qualifications

  • All positions in Cedar Point Associate Housing must be of at least 18 years of age to apply.
  • Serve as a positive representative of the Housing Department.
  • Know, understand and follow all policies set forth in the Associate Housing Handbook, as well as all applicable Federal and State laws.
  • Inform the Associate Housing Supervisor of any current or potential problem involving a Resident Assistant and/or affecting the individual, staff, or residents.
  • Do not engage in insubordinate behavior, negative attitudes, or creating departmental conflicts.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment at all times.
  • Ability to appreciate cultural, religious, political, and social differences.
  • Ability to hold the highest standards in confidentiality.
  • Ability to assist in defining and directing problems or issues, and have a vast knowledge of the company. Giving correct directions is crucial.
  • Take initiative and maintain the company’s reputation and dedication to safety, service, courtesy, cleanliness, and integrity.
  • Work collaboratively in a team setting as well as work independently.
  • Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills, including speaking in front of groups.
  • Utilize problem solving skills, including working in a fast-paced, service-focused culture.
  • Demonstrate strong time management, planning, and organizational skills in order to optimize productivity.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
