This position serves as a liaison and collaborates with federal, and state government agencies and other organizations to develop best practices for national dairy program standards implementation, documentation and reporting. Duties of the position include delegated decision-making consistent with program requirements, interpretation and application of multi-factor policies and procedures and evaluation of multiple performance standard measures. This position also has overall responsibility for tracking strategic plan progress for the dairy program and reporting on program deliverables.

This work includes high-level decision-making regarding national and statewide standards with dairy food safety and dairy food related consumer protection issues. In tracking strategic plan progress, this position is responsible for monitoring the program implementation and assisting with data collection, analysis and evaluation efforts pertaining to program policies and procedures. This position also works with personnel who are planning, developing and delivering grant-funded projects including IT initiatives.

This section carries out Grade A and Grade B dairy inspection functions. Grade A dairy program requirements are outlined in US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) documents written in collaboration with the National Conference on Interstate Milk Shipment (NCIMS). The Grade B (also known as manufactured grade) dairy plant inspection program follows the Manufactured Food Regulatory Program Standards (MFRPS).
