Internship - Treasury

Requirements: Applicants must have graduated in 2020 or be returning to school in the fall of 2020. This is a paid internship that will also include financial support for summer housing and temporary relocation to the area.
Location: Ventura, CA

Internship Overview
Treasury is responsible for managing strategies related to Patagonia’s financial resources with respect to capital management, liquidity management, short-term and long-term funding, balance sheet strategy, and foreign currency risk management. Treasury is a highly cross-functional area within the Finance department, where you will interact with other areas of Patagonia including Tax, FP&A, Supply Chain, Environmental, and our Finance teams around the world. In this role, you will assist the Sr. Treasury Analyst across all areas of Treasury, including cash management, cash forecast, FX risk management, and a banking project that is aimed at aligning Patagonia with sustainability-oriented financial institutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Cash Management & Forecasting
  • Manage short term cash forecasting model
  • Research and make recommendations for deploying excess cash
  • Foreign Exchange (FX) Risk Management
  • Prepare monthly hedge accounting entries
  • Compile FX rate forecasts
  • Assist in forecasting FX exposures across the company
  • Banking
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly bank reporting
  • Assist in the management of bank relationships
  • Assist in Sustainable Banking project
  • Other Areas
  • Create new internal Treasury policy
  • Assist in the annual financial audit process

Internship Project
In addition to daily assignments that support your team, you will be assigned a project to complete by the end of the summer. You will present the results of your project at the end of your internship with your team, and possibly a company-wide audience.
Patagonia has launched a sustainable banking project aimed at aligning Patagonia with sustainability-oriented financial institutions. You will assist in the implementation of this project, which may include the development of new banking strategies, identifying potential new partners and strategy execution. Through this project, you will engage with various stakeholders at Patagonia, as well as outside partners. This project will help drive Patagonia’s mission – We’re in business to save our home planet.

Experience You Bring

  • Undergraduate student
  • Previous internship experience preferred
  • Pursuit of a degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • Knowledge of US GAAP accounting
  • Advanced Excel and modeling skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally
