Physician Extender II

The Department of Pediatrics Hematology/Oncology at the Brody School of Medicine is seeking a physician extender to provide patient care for patients in clinic, inpatient, outpatient and day hospital settings. In addition the successful candidate has to play an important role in providing education to other staff at the hospital and university, referring practitioners, patients and their families and to other community members relevant to the care of individuals with pediatric hematologic and oncologic conditions. Membership and participation in professional organizations is essential to remain current in the field. Research responsibilities include a role in all aspects of the research process including organizing, implementing, tracking, and presenting research activities in the division of pediatric hematology and oncology.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Education/Experience
Graduation from a physician assistant program approved by the N.C. Board of Medical Examiners and “approved to practice medical acts” based on education and experience by the Board of Medical Examiners and two years of experience in the specialty area of assignment; or licensed as a registered nurse by the Board of Nursing and graduation from a nurse practitioner program approved by the N.C. Joint Subcommittee, and two years of experience in the specialty area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
