The Department of Ecology's Northwest Regional Office (NWRO) provides core environmental and natural resources services to seven northern interior counties in Western Washington. The office is one of four Regional Offices and serves as the base of operations for approximately 190 staff from multiple environmental programs. From this location, Ecology delivers a full spectrum of environmental services including air and water quality protection, water rights administration, toxic site cleanup, hazardous chemicals oversight, shorelines and wetlands protection, spill response, waste management, and environmental monitoring.
The Regional Receptionist position serves as one of the main receptionists in the Northwest Regional Office. Successful candidates will ensure high quality customer service to the public, stakeholders, and fellow Ecology employees. The receptionist position is the first point of contact for the NWRO office and requires a high level of professionalism.
Routing complex incoming calls using various subject directories and informational materials to properly assist callers, and directing visitors at the front desk to the appropriate program or staff, are key duties. The position also assists the public and internal staff on complex inquiries about agency rules, policies, department procedures and department services. Other functions include: providing mail services to regional staff by date-stamping and sorting incoming mail and placing in correct mail slots, and acting as a backup to the environmental report tracker with environmental incident calls.
Please note this is a non-permanent position that is projected to last up to 7 months.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two (2) years of clerical experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in answering multi-line telephones.
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – including, but not limited to, Outlook (specifically both email and calendar functions), Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience using SharePoint, Environmental Report Tracking System (ERTS), and/or Event Management System (EMS).
  • Ability to navigate the intranet/internet to find information.
  • Keyboarding at a net speed of at least 40 words per minute accurately.
