Instrumentation Solution Product Intern

The Instrumentation Solution team seeks a top-performing, highly-motivated Summer Product Manager Intern to join our growing team. You will have the opportunity to work with multiple business/engineering groups, use your knowledge and experience to elevate the quality of tracking & instrumentation across the company, help data engineers build scalable platforms that produce business metrics and enable monitoring on those metrics.
Strong behavioral analytics knowledge, experience working on highly complex software projects in AGILE mode and a desire to drive positive change are key to success in this role.

  • Partner closely with other Product Managers to understand new product offerings being built, and work with analysts to recommend the right metrics to measure performance of those features
  • Provide strategic and tactical guidance on building infrastructure products for PayPal site and PayPal Engineering force
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams, provide ongoing support to help influence system qualities such as Availability, Performance and Scalability by providing actionable insights on system status
  • Collaborate with designer and customer to develop the right experience for Infrastructure product such as Cloud services, Monitoring, etc.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the PayPal infrastructure; Bring perspective of industry standards and influence the strategy of the products
  • Participate in Agile rituals with the engineering team
  • Embed the product management discipline and principles in the everyday working.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering discipline with a strong quantitative aptitude
  • First experiences working on e-commerce, payments or mobile or products in a technical role either as an engineer or a technical product manager will be a plus
  • Strong SQL skills required
  • Experience working with Hadoop, Apache Spark and big data technology preferred but not required
  • Solid understanding of behavioral analytics concepts with respect to UX design, data tracking, AB testing and metrics
  • Understanding of service-oriented architecture, data flows in multi-tier systems, event tracking and relational data structures
  • Familiarity with design/development of iOS and android apps and mobile SDKs is highly desired
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and skilled at adjusting communication style/vocabulary to your audience’s role/function and technical familiarity
  • Self-starter, driven, strong relationship builder, passionate about learning and making a difference
