Special Projects Coordinator GLOBE Intern

YOUR INTERNSHIP WITH TNC The Nature Conservancy’s GLOBE (Growing Leaders on Behalf of the Environment) summer internship program hires undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent college graduates (2017, 2018, and 2019) to fill paid internship positions during a 10-week summer internship. These positions are available throughout the United States and provide a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academics and realworld conservation work. The program recruits individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences who are interested in contributing to our conservation goals in various fields. We offer a structured orientation, professional training, network opportunities, mentoring program, and real work experience.  
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Foundation Relations Program is looking for a Special Projects Coordinator GLOBE intern with strong writing, research, analytical, and interpersonal/communication skills to support the team in our core functions and work on special projects. The intern will have opportunities to explore the world of foundation fundraising and the workings of a successful foundation fundraising operation. Areas of focus will include supporting the Foundation Leadership Working Group, a group of foundation relations directors from across the Conservancy (WO, NY, CA, MI, Europe) that is collaborating on a range of issues, including building the Conservancy's pipeline of foundation support and managing complex foundation partnerships. In addition to handling logistics for this working group and attending and sending out summaries of meetings, the intern will be tasked with discreet projects including analyzing the results of the FY19 work plan, drafting the FY20 work plan, and researching foundation prospects. 
 
A second line of work will focus on stewardship. The Foundation Relations program currently manages approximately a dozen foundations and stewards 50+ grants. The intern will work on at least one stewardship project designed to thank one or more foundation donors for their contributions to the Nature Conservancy. Past projects have included the creation of books and videos. 
 
Finally, working with a seasoned staff member, the intern will learn how to review funding proposals and grant reports, marking up real-life examples and discussing the results. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE • Work with the Foundations Relations Coordinator to perform tasks as assigned/needed to summary data and guide the development of a strategic plan for the Foundation Leadership Working Group • Assist with the administration of Foundation Relations team, including research, data management, and correspondence • Develop a stewardship project, such as a photo book or video, to aid in donor engagement around our conservation work - Collect interviews with fundraisers across the organization to develop success stories • Assist with other activities as needed within the Foundation Relations team 
 
 
 
 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • HS Diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in an undergraduate program, graduate program, or a recent graduate (2018, or 2019) of Business, Communication, Conservation, Environmental Studies, English, Legal, Marketing, Public Policy, Non-Profit Management or related field, or equivalent • Experience using Microsoft Excel • Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills 
 
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Experience using Microsoft Excel specifically pivot tables and complex data sets  • Desire to learn about the field of foundation fundraising and the environmental giving landscape • Desire to learn about the work of the Conservancy and how we harness our global resources to develop successful funding proposals and grow relationships with foundations • Ability to implement complex processes • Experience completing tasks independently • Strong organization skills, accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks 
 
ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION • This is a full-time, temporary internship position with a 10-week term of June 3 – August 9, 2019.  
 
SALARY INFORMATION $12.50/per hour (undergrads) and $14.50/per hour (graduate and recently graduated level students)
