Laboratory Medical Specialist: Mass Spectrometry/Clinical Chemist
This position is assigned to the tandem mass spectrometry laboratory in the Newborn Screening Unit in the NC State Laboratory of Public Health. The successful candidate will use tandem mass spectrometry to detect disorders in newborns. Responsibilities include: performing high complexity testing using mass spectrometry, instrument maintenance; understanding and adhering to CLIA, OSHA, and state regulations for laboratories; and performing established quality assurance activities.
This position has the potential to be extended past June 2019. This position can be either full-time or part-time.
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in medical technology, microbiology, chemistry or a closely related biological science.
