Electrical Controls Engineer

Purpose of the Position
Plans, designs, develops, installs, activates,, operates, modifies and evaluates control systems hardware equipment, software or processes.



Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understanding of standard control systems operations, development, testing, validation, safety standards, and concepts such as remote valve controls, safety and operational interlocks, etc.
  • Understanding of standard control methods, hardware, software, protocols and concepts such as Allen Bradley RS Logix500 and 5000, LabView, programming in C++, and WonderWare screen development
  • Designs, plans, and oversees installation, activation, and operations of controls equipment, components and circuits for new and existing products
  • Defines requirements and creates schematics for hardware systems architecture. Evaluates performance, integrates hardware units and interconnection of units
  • Selects appropriate components based upon reliability, performance and availability
  • Conducts validation, verification and qualification testing
  • Provide Test Operations support with developing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing procedures to verify functionality of control systems, sequencers, and control system components
  • Develop work procedures to direct work, execute, and document technicians work
  • Ensures designs incorporate approval agencies and electrical safety standards. Participates in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
  • All other duties assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • 2 years of engineering experience in a related field
  • Experience working with engineering processes and procedures
  • Experience working with department's overall business objectives and goals
Other Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge
  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate with state seal, Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
  • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner
  • Must have, and maintain, a valid driver's license
