Cost Management Analyst Intern, Summer 2019

Position Summary:

Complete a 10-12 week program in the Cost Management department working with a team to gain an understanding of the department’s initiatives as well as learn the benefits tracking process for the department. Responsible for positively impacting Kroger’s business and consumers by completing challenging and meaningful projects. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of others.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Complete a project that includes running analysis on historical and current data and working with a merchandising counterpart to ultimately improve the forward looking profitability of Kroger
  • Complete projects in a timely manner with the assistance of an Analyst and Senior Analyst mentor
  • Collaborate with internal and external parties taking into account a holistic scope of the project and return actionable results from data analysis
  • Participate in strategic discussions and lead meetings as necessary
  • Complete analysis and presentations in accordance with established timelines
  • Present cumulative project to the Cost Management leadership team
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Sophomore standing or higher at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; proficient in creative writing and grammar
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Responds to change as a positive challenge
  • Significant level of multi-tasking required
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of information
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Commitment to providing customer service
  • Good organizational skills

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Economics, Operations Management or Finance
  • Organization and computer skills
