Timber Sale Prep

As a new employee, you will learn the basics of timber sale and contract preparation, layout and marking and timber inventory and cruising skills. You will interact with foresters, silviculturists, hydrologists, wildlife biologists and fire managers throughout the course of the season to accomplish your work. All new employees will have the opportunity to gain certification in wildland fire suppression (S-130/190) & wildland fire chainsaws (S-212) and may assist with initial attack and prescribed fire as needed. Experienced technicians will have the opportunity to attend a Regional Qualified Cruiser Training which is hosted by the San Juan NF (Pagosa RD) on an annual basis. Some employees may have the opportunity to develop advanced timber sale preparation, GIS, and ATV/UTV operation skills as interest, priorities and workload allow.
