P1800208 - Coordinator, Office of Global Health Initiatives - School of Public Health and Health Professions
Position Summary:
The part-time (0.50 FTE) Coordinator for the Office of Global Health Initiatives (OGHI) in the School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP), will contribute to achieving the mission to identify, engage in, and advance innovative and sustainable solutions to significant global health problems. You will facilitate the development of effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students from five departments across the School; as well as collaborate with colleagues and individuals from other institutions of higher learning and organizations involved in delivering care and support to populations locally and globally.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Promote student engagement in global health research and practice
• Coordinate recruitment and exchange program activities for Health in Brazil, a collaboration between the University at Buffalo and UNIPAC in Brazil. Coordinate the OGHI student fieldwork award application process and an annual Seminar Series
• Manage OGHI communications such as web content, the development and distribution of updates for wide circulation, and dissemination of information regarding global health activities at SPHHP and the University.
• Collaborate with the Community for Global Health Equity to coordinate the annual Refugee Health Summit and Annual Global Health Day.
The School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP) at UB offers programs at every degree level and is the home to five departments; biostatistics, community health and health behavior, epidemiology and environmental health, exercise and nutrition sciences, and rehabilitation science. It is one of only a few schools across the country that includes health-related professions as an integral component of the public health educational and research system. Faculty and students engage in research and community activities designed to improve the health of populations, communities and individuals. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; effective oral and communication skills; demonstrated ability to take ownership of an assigned function and make independent decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree; experience in international settings, particularly in a low- or middle-income country setting; an interest in global issues, advanced knowledge of public health and more specifically, global health.
