ACE EPIC NPS NE: Digital Media and Educational Program Internship - AmeriCorps

Summary: American Conservation Experience, a Non-Profit Conservation Corps based in Flagstaff, AZ, in partnership with the National Park Service, is seeking ONE Digital Media and Educational Program Intern to dedicate 12 weeks in support of Niobrara National Scenic River. The main duties include engaging the public through social media, revamping the Park's website and social media outlets, and assisting with public interpretation programs and school education programs. 
This opportunity is intended for conscientious, enthusiastic, individuals with an interest in developing their skills in digital media and public outreach.
 
Start Date: ASAP
End Date: November 9, 2018

Compensation: The ACE interns receive a living allowance of $200/week for food and incidental expenses, paid bi-weekly. Housing will be provided to the intern at no extra cost. 
 
Housing will be in a bunkhouse-style facility on the Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge, with shared rooms. Other temporary residents will include USFWS professionals and those the FWS invites. Free laundry facilities and a nice, large kitchen are included on-site.
 
AmeriCorps: This position may be eligible for one 450-hour ($1,538.36)AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion of internship service hours. Additional enrollment is required.
 
Position Description: 
Primary responsibilities for this position include:
  • Assist with After School Nature Club by engaging students in creating a video about the club and the river. Intern will video tape students, encourage them to video each other, and create a video using Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Engage the public through social media posts. This involves taking still photographs and video, editing them, and posting using a professional informal voice. Intern will respond to comments appropriately and in a timely manner. 
  • Revamp and improve park website content, including evaluating the current content for clarity, rewriting content, updating photographs, and appropriately tagging new content.
  • Assist with public interpretive programs and/or school educational programs.
  • Provide visitor information in the field and at the park visitor center.
