Public and Community Health Teacher

Public and Community Health Teacher - This position is shared with AHS & MHS
 
For new teachers, in order to be eligible for an interview, all applicants must be eligible for Delaware Licensure.
 
Description:
The Teacher is to design, implement, and assess lessons which will increase student achievement. The Teacher must also maintain a positive classroom environment. The Teacher shall enforce the State rules and regulations and district policies to ensure the operation of the educational program.
 
Job Summary:
 
  • Candidate may have experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). RNs and LPNs provide and coordinate patient care, educate patients and the public about various health conditions, and provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members
  • Nursing experience should include care for patients in a public or community health capacity, providing education for health maintenance, and referring patients to physicians and other healthcare professionals or facilities. Public health professionals work with complex health issues to protect and improve health in physician’s offices, home healthcare, outpatient care centers, community centers and other facilities.
 
  • Provides the appropriate educational opportunities and instruction for each student, according to his/her needs and abilities.
  • Attends required professional development activities to enhance and maintain program requirements.
  • Provides the appropriate educational opportunities and instruction for each student, according to his/her needs and abilities.
  • Collaborates with fellow teachers in planning instruction
  • Establish and maintain good rapport and communication with students, school personnel and parents.
 
  • Establishes and maintains a classroom atmosphere conducive to teaching and learning.
 
  • Plans and uses classroom time effectively.
  • Implements School Board and school based policies and procedures in order to uphold school regulations.
  • Works closely with guidance/special education personnel/outside resources
  • Continue to build partnerships with Business Community Members in the Allied Health Industry.
 
  • Conduct Job Site Evaluations for all Medical Technology Practicum Students.
  • to assist students with special needs.
 
  • Integrates technology in instruction, following DE CTE Standards.
  • Works continuously toward self-improvement through the active pursuit of professional development activities.
 
  • Participates in district and school level committees designed to foster continuing improvement and growth.
  • Communicates curriculum and student related information effectively in oral and written form.
  • Participate in all meetings (IEP, conferences, departmental professional development, etc).
 
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications:
Must be eligible for State of Delaware Certification (STS, industry experience)
 A current Delaware Registered Nurse license or other licensed healthcare professional (e.g., physical therapist, chiropractor, respiratory therapist)
Knowledge of Delaware State Content Standards, Assessment & Accountability
Knowledge of Vocational Student Organizations and Tech Prep Articulation.
Knowledge of best practices.
Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills.
Criminal background check, Tuberculin testing, and health verification.
 
 Education:
 Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
