Music, Choir and Musical Theater Instructor
Liberty Common High School (LCHS) in Fort Collins, Colorado is seeking a full-time 7-12th grade music instructor for immediate hire. LCHS is a Poudre School District charter school dedicated to Core Knowledge principles, and college-preparatory instruction. The school currently enrolls over 500 junior-high and high-school students.
LCHS provides excellence and fairness in education by teaching 1) a contextual body of organized knowledge, 2) the skills of learning, and 3) the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice, partnership with teachers, and student acceptance of responsibility for his/her academic effort.
The full-time music instructor has responsibility for program delivery of the Core Music classes as part of the Core Knowledge Curriculum at the junior high level, directing Choir programs at the junior-high and high-school level, and directing Musical Theater productions at the junior-high and high-school level. Applicants should be dedicated to a strong skills and knowledge-based curriculum, and dedicated to high student achievement.
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS in Music, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Ability and willingness to teach Music, Choir, and Musical Theater.
- Demonstrated effective classroom teaching ability.
Preferred Characteristics:
- Experience and proficiency with Music, Choir, and Theater instruction/direction.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multiple teams.
- MS/MA in Music, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Other relevant musical or theater related experience including expertise in keyboard/accompaniment and dramatic theatrical productions.
