Facilities Maintenance Mechanic

WFEC is a generation and transmission (G&T) cooperative that provides essential electric service to 21 member cooperatives, Altus Air Force Base, and other power users. These members are located primarily in Oklahoma and New Mexico, with some service territories extending into portions of Texas and Kansas. SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Station Maintenance Supervisor, the Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance of building facilities and grounds including, but not limited to maintenance, repair, and replacement of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, heating, venting, and air conditioning systems and equipment. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Completes maintenance requests and preventive maintenance tasks as assigned. Performs general maintenance, remodel, construction, and repairs of facilities and equipment to include plumbing, carpentry, electrical wiring and lighting, Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) systems and heating and air conditioning work. Maintains, repairs, installs, and troubleshoots building lighting and electrical systems up to 480 volts. Performs general landscape and yard maintenance including performance and documentation of herbicide application and maintenance and repair of equipment such as small tractors, zero-turn mowers, edgers, blowers, weedeaters, sprinkler systems and small engine repair and upkeep. Performs maintenance and upkeep of roads, sidewalks, and parking lots on WFEC property. Safely operates and maintains in good repair, light equipment such as back-hoes, skid loaders, trenchers, zero-turn mowers, trimmers, tractors and implements. Pours concrete foundations, footings, and floors to include building and setting forms, cutting and tying rebar, and pouring and finishing concrete. Performs welding, including thermal welding, in maintenance and construction duties. Uses computers to monitor, interrogate, and program electronic control systems. Keeps equipment, vehicles, and work environment in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. Attends on- and off-site training as requested or required. Follows all safety procedures in performance of duties.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors required of this position. 
Education and Experience: Requires successful completion of a related technical school program or an Associate Degree in electrical/industrial HVAC technology. Military technical school training, directly related vocational technical programs, or completion of a formal electrical or mechanical apprenticeship may also be partially or fully qualifying. Directly related experience may be substituted for education at the rate of two (2) years of experience for one (1) year of education.  
In addition to the educational requirement, a minimum of two (2) years' experience in two (2) or more of the following areas is required:
  1. Heating, venting, and air conditioning systems
  2. Electrical and lighting systems
  3. General maintenance or construction experience including plumbing, carpentry, welding, concrete work, and operation of light equipment such as tractors, mowers, forklifts, man-lifts and other related equipment.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with other employees. 
Math Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. 
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 
Computer Skills: Ability to use a personal computer to access the Internet, intranet, electronic control systems, and utilize Microsoft Office software as required. 
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must maintain a current and valid State of Oklahoma driver's license. Within one (1) year of employment in this position, the incumbent must also acquire an Oklahoma Vegetation Management Association (OKVMA) Applicator's License.  
WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: This job requires extensive overnight travel. Incumbent must live within a thirty mile radius of specified base work location. Incumbent must be willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays and travel on short notice.
