Project Engineer

 Position Purpose:
 This position is responsible for managing capital projects, support daily plant operations and managing technology transfer for all areas of the plant.
The Project Engineer works closely with a variety of other groups, including production, quality, and maintenance as well as outside suppliers and consultants to achieve desired goals.
This role also supports the development and implementation of process improvements (reliability, waste, product quality, safety margin) to meet business needs.
 
Let's talk about Responsibilities:
 
  • Develop all aspects of project management; project definition, project planning, capital expenditure management, and technology transfer associated with capital projects, new materials, and new products conferring with management.
  • Support the design, specification, installation; start up, troubleshooting, and improvement of equipment and systems.
  • Develop and maintain specifications, technical documentation, and procedures for processes and equipment which are consistent with Factory Performance and Reliability goals and support Quality and Safety Standards.
  • Serve as primary resource to the operations and quality team for issues involving design, process changes and equipment modification by soliciting feedback and driving continuous improvement.
  • Accountable for ensuring compliance with Colgate-Palmolive, local, state, and federal standards and guidelines related to Safety, Quality, and Regulatory.
  • Develop new insights and drive innovative engineering and processing solutions to reduce costs and improve process capability and quality.
  • Engage partners in design decisions to ensure projects satisfy quality, cost, service, and environmental health and safety criteria, and manage third party contractors and engineering design firms effectively.
  • Develop, validate, and transfer factory standard operating procedures associated with new products, packaging, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, internal partners, procurement, and engineers on plant floor systems controls.
  • Integrates with Corporate IT and GIT to ensure alignment on information technology systems.
  • Drive the values and principles of managing with respect in all daily business affairs.
  • Other functions that may be assigned.
 
What you need for this position:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Food Science or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of functional experience in manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of project management.
  • A working knowledge of production processes and control systems.
  • Working knowledge of Quality standards required.
  • Working knowledge of Environmental Occupational Health and Safety standards.
  • Teamwork orientation with excellent interpersonal and team skills.
  • Strong technical interpersonal skills.
  • Able to support a 24 hour operation including weekends and holidays based on project demands.
 
It’s an advantage to have:
 
  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and validation
  • Knowledge of the Capital Procurement preferred
  • Prior experience with manufacturing of consumer goods products or food manufacturing
  • Experience with food safety requirements and standards
  • Continuous improvement and/or lean six sigma experience or certification.
  • Experience in SAP (Systems Applications and Products)
  • Advance degree in Engineering or related field
  • MBA
